OUR ARTISTS

Christopher Kopmeier
Photography
Dodgeville, Wisconsin
artist email
I have always enjoyed building and creating. My favorite mediums are ceramics and photography. My art stems from common, simple, and local moments in time and place, energized by manipulating the perspective of the elements.

Judi Werner
Jewelry
Madison, Wisconsin
artist email

Judi Werner focused her education on Computer Technology rather than the arts. It turns out that corralling all those bites and bytes over the years to make programs that people can use in their business was very creative work, with a lot of logical thinking and problem solving thrown in. It was a very useful foundation for this science-oriented artisan.

Woodworking

My love for wood began with my first exposure to woodworking as a youth. Although woodworking was placed on hold while getting an education and raising a family, my desire to work wood continued. Each item is individually handcrafted from domestic hardwoods such as cherry, walnut, oak and maple. Imported "exotic" species such as padauk, purpleheart and bubinga are sometimes used as accent. I take pride in producing a quality, affordable product that will meet your needs. Care is taken in wood selection, construction and finishing to produce an item that can be used and enjoyed for many years.

Marcia Nelson
Glass, Jewelry
Middleton, Wisconsin
artist email

Marcia chose stained glass as her art because it combined a number of skills she's been honing for years. She loves putting things together like a puzzle, and stained glass can be put together in many different ways with the same pieces but using different colors, and using different techniques in the construction.

I am a closet silly. But responsibility runs deep in my heritage. I lived the Depression through the conservatism of my parents—as old as most people’s grandparents. I lived the radicalism of the 70’s—back to nature and breaking rules—through my liberalism. Some people think nature and society follow rules. I follow nature and society, but I know that chance rules. By applying ink to plexiglass and pressing paper to the image, my monoprints are born. Just as children come with their own briefcase of ideas, my mixed media art is full of negotiation.

I am a life long resident of the Driftless Area of Southwest Wisconsin. Our surrounding wildlife and landscape inspire me to explore the natural heritage we all share, and to create photographs for others to enjoy. Local landscapes and wildlife are my main areas of focus, but I also enjoy exploring the macro world that is often overlooked.
Rick Raschick
Pottery
Madison, Wisconsin
artist email
Pottery offers Rick a medium in which to explore his fascination with form. Perhaps it is his colorblindness, but it has taken years for him to really become interested in glazes and other decorative elements. Though most of us are more aware of color and other decorations, for Rick, they are secondary and must be organic to his pieces.
