I have always enjoyed building and creating. My favorite mediums are ceramics and photography. My art stems from common, simple, and local moments in time and place, energized by manipulating the perspective of the elements.

Christopher Kopmeier was born in Milwaukee in 1951, lived a block away from UWM. Educated at Campus Elementary School, Homestead HS, and graduated from UW-Madison with a BS in Fine Art plus a K-12 Teaching License. Landed in Dodgeville, taught art in Barneveld for 27 years, now operates Artrack LLC.

Married to Anna (art teacher at Dodgeville HS), we have three sons, Easton, Drew, and Chase.

I have always enjoyed building and creating. My favorite mediums are ceramics and photography. The process of this work is my motivation. The risk, failures, and the unknown stimulates the expression. My art stems from common, simple, and local moments in time and place, energized by manipulating the perspective of the elements.

The ART of this abstract expressed realism begins with a simple photo taken with a Nikon 35mm camera. These photos are printed, transparencies are copied, and occasionally the parts are cut into various sizes and shapes. These elements form the image through integral positioning. It becomes a tactile prop without the use of digital technology. The process may include multiple photo shoots of the work to experience a possible conclusion.
